About

Lucy Skoulding

I'm a journalist, editor and author. I am using this website to collate all my work in one place.

About me

I grew up in Buckinghamshire, spending a good chunk of my time reading books. When the time came I went to Warwick University to study English Literature before leaving my countryside norm behind for the city. Since moving to London I have started a career in journalism and work on various projects and businesses alongside this. See what I'm working on below.

What do I do?

What am I involved in?

  • Women in Journalism: a networking, campaigning, and training organisation for women in the media.

  • Early Bird Speakers: a Toastmasters club based in London helping people develop, learn, and become an accomplished speaker (all before breakfast!).

  • 50:50 Parliament: campaigning for gender equality in parliament.

  • Sharing Social London: a London-based monthly meetup for those working in and with social media. Includes networking, training, and learning opportunities.

  • London Letters Club: a society which brings lovers of the written word together. Essentially you get paired with another club member and it helps encourage you exchange hand written letters when you would normally feel like you don't have the time.

  • The Second Source: a group created by female journalists to tackle harassment and create an alternative network for women in the media. As well as being on the mentoring programme, I attend events with top female journalists speaking and go to networking opportunities.

I volunteer in the following ways:

  • Meningitis Now Community Volunteer

  • Volunteer on the I Can Be project

  • Digital Media Officer at the Student Publication Association

  • Culture editor at Kettle Mag

  • Member of Amnesty International Mayfair and Soho supporters

  • Volunteer writer for UN SPIDER

  • Volunteer writer for Revolt Sexual Assault
